RV Travel On A Budget

Woodgrove Mall Parking Lot
Popular With Some RV Owners

While we are not at the height of the tourist season it was evident Sunday morning that people are still coming into or through Nanaimo in their motor homes and RV's.

A popular spot to spend the night is the parking lot at Woodgrove Mall, which does not charge for the overnight use of their parking lot. It's not exactly an out of the way, back to nature place to park, but the price is right and it is easy to find.

There are eight RV's in the above photo, but there were at least another four spread out over the lot. It would seem that when people get in their motor homes to 'get away' one of the things they enjoy getting away from, is other people.

With few exceptions these folk were parked well away from each other, with the exception of two, who seemed to be traveling together.

I am not sure if it still exists, but the old Rutherford Mall (now North Town Center) used to have a free 'sani-dump' connection for the motor home traveler.

Contrary to the lyrics of an old song, it would seem that a parking lot is some people's idea of paradise!
