Could Reopen By Friday
A faulty manhole caused sewage to leak at Departure Bay Beach on Wednesday afternoon. The leak was spotted at noon and was fixed by about 2:30 pm.
City and Regional District staff will be testing the ocean water to determine when safe contamination levels are reached before opening the beach again to swimmers.
