Friday Downtown Nanaimo

One of the Sculptures In Spirit Square
Downtown Farmer's Market Today In Pioneer Square
Noon Canon Firing In Pioneer Plaza beside the historic Bastion

If you've got the day off or are entertaining guests from afar, today is a great day to head to downtown Nanaimo.

The Downtown Farmer's Market is open from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, be sure to come early for the best selection of fresh produce, baked goods and other yummy things.

The cannon firing takes place at 12:00 o'clock on the dot in Pioneer Square. Be sure to take in this interesting site, and cover your ears!

You will be right beside the Bastion, which of course is closed for renovations now and you will be forgiven if you think it has all but disappeared! The roof came off yesterday, meaning there is very little standing to tell you it is the Bastion.

While downtown check out Commercial Street with it's unique shops and art galleries, as well as the new Museum in the Convention Centre.

If you haven't seen the sculptures in Maffeo Sutton Park Spirit Square you can walk along our lovely seawall from the Farmer's Market to Maffeo Sutton Park.

The weather is going to be great, and there is lots to see and do downtown. So, what are you waiting for?
