Nanaimo Hell's Angels Building?

Rear Of Building Facing Rainer Street

Front Of Building Facing Victoria Road
 Who Is Responsible
For Upkeep Of Premises?

The building that was seized from the Hell's Angels three years ago this November still sits vacant and it is clear that no one has done anything about the appearance of the place.

The security fence complete with black tarps and grass and weeds obviously untouched for years, don't do anything to enhance the neighbourhood.

The city is quite vigilant about enforcing unsightly premises bylaws and I am wondering if this building would qualify as unsightly yet? I know it would if it were across from my house. At the moment I am not sure who actually owns the property and would be responsible for maintaining the appearance at a higher standard.

I am going to guess that the actual ownership and validity of the law under which the property was seized is still the subject of some ongoing court battle somewhere.

In the meantime a general tidy up wouldn't cost anyone much money, and it certainly could improve the appearance of the lot, which sits right across from a neighbourhood playground.

  1. Talk to the cops... they are the only ones allowed in, on, or around the premises... The land and the building are supposed to be kept in the same order as when it was seized BY THE PEOPLE WHO SEIZED IT, according to the law that they seized it under. It should also be noted that not one charge has come of this seizure, and that it was probably only seized because a politician wanted to buy the property but they didn't want to sell!!
