Not Convinced No Fluoride In Nanaimo Water

Offers No Proof Of Claim

In spite of the fact that Bill Sims, the city manager of water resources flatly states that Nanaimo does NOT add fluoride to the city drinking water one local resident is not convinced. In fact she has launched a Facebook page (We are change Nanaimo) in an effort to warn people of potential hazards in the city water supply from the addition of fluoride.

The following comment is posted on her facebook page this morning, and while she may still be unconvinced she does not offer any test results etc. that would support her suspicions.

Amanda Orum "Seem to be at a dead end with my campaign in Nanaimo, unless there are some information people would like to share. I recently talked to Bill Sims, the gentleman that works for public works in Nanaimo, he says that nanaimo does NOT add Fluoride in the water and that this method is all natural... Some how I just don't believe him and I need to think of a way to show his lies... Its been proven that the city lies so they can avoid these types of situations."

  1. I'm shocked that the lady is accusing someone of lying. This is the stuff that lawsuits are made of.
    Can you say "paranoid"?

  2. The assumption that there is fluoride in the water, is based not on fact or reliable source, but rather gut instinct and hunch?

I trust city officials as far as my bad back can throw them, but seems a bit much to base arguments solely on personal feeling of a situation and not taking into consideration facts or statements. It's uninformed and not blog worthy, let alone news worthy.

  3. The city water quality report (available on the city website) shows that there IS fluoride in the water. That is not based on hunch. The city claims it is there by natural means and has not been added.
    Ms Orum clearly disagrees.
The purpose of the post is to see if anyone has any 'proof' that the fluoride has been added, rather than occurring naturally.

  4. do some research. find out what a normal level of natural fluoride is and compare these numbers to what nanaimo is posting on their website. this should have been done before starting a facebook site and putting ads on craigslist. to just go on gut instinct and call someone a liar without solid evidence to suggest otherwise is going to give the campaign a bad reputation. give me facts, not opinions, then i'll be more inclined to listen.

Why the "high levels" in this area? I'd like to meet up with We Are Change Nanaimo, but I don't have facebook.

Any other way to contact you?

  7. Yes I agree with comment #1. The city financial records are public....see if there is an expenditure for fluoride. I do think you are off the wall for calling the man a liar.

  8. You don't just throw a bucket of flouride in a city resevoir,it takes expensive, sophisticated machinery to add it to the system.Something that would be very difficult to hide in a public water distibution system.Plus you have to buy the flouride !!
