Workin' At The Car Wash

Petro Can Car Wash Demolished

The car wash on Terminal Avenue which had been there since Noah got off the Ark has gone the way of most things.

All that is left of the building which once housed the only drive through car wash in Nanaimo is a pile of rubble with the remains of the red car wash brushes still visible among the heap.

I presume that this lot, like other closed gas stations will have the soil removed and some long term remediation put in place to allow for the contamination of all that leaked gas over the years.

  1. My Dad ran that place for almost 30 years. All that is left now is Memories of a drunk mayor driving through and breaking brushes, poor Fred Ilott getting run over ...the list goes on.

  2. I used to work at the carwash for Fred in the early eighties.

Fred was a such a great great guy, and one of the best employers I've ever had the pleasure to work for...

So sad to hear about the closing of the carwash...

    Good Times & Memories... :)
