Ebbtides Swim Club Gives City $10,000

Swim Meet A Huge Success

The Nanaimo Ebbtides Swim Club hosted the Canadian National Masters Swim Championships in May of this year.

The event was held at the new Nanaimo Aquatic Centre and hosted 600 swimmers with the help of over 200 volunteers. The meet saw 88 records set and was successful beyond expectations.

Nanaimo Parks and Rec provided the club with $5,000 to get the event organized and promoted initially. Due to the tremendous success of the event, Terry Ryan on behalf of the Ebbtides Swim Club presented the city with a cheque for $10,000. Councilor McNabb and Mayor Ruttan received the cheque on behalf of the city.
