Home Invasion Victims Uncooperative

Investigators are being met with uncooperative victims after a home invasion was reported in the 100 block of Victoria Rd late last night.

Officers attended to the residence just before midnight after one of the tenants reported two males, dressed in black, wearing ski masks, burst into their home and bear sprayed the six tenants. The two suspects took a laptop computer then fled in a waiting vehicle.

The two males were described as being between 5 ft 8- 5 ft 10 wearing ski masks and black fleece jackets. BC Ambulance attended and provided treatment to the six adults  for the effects of the bear spray. None of the six agreed to provide statements to police and offered no explanation why their home would be targeted.

“ Our officers are seeing these types of incidents on a more frequent basis. Often persons whose safety has been compromised call 911 but for whatever reason are reluctant to work with our investigators to find out who is responsible . The end result is the file often gets concluded. In such cases, it does make us question what would cause their home to be targeted in the first place” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.You can also go online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.ca
