Nanaimo Freshwater Fishing Improves

Fish Restocking Program Begins
In Nanaimo Area Lakes

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. has started it's fall release program in Nanaimo area freshwater lakes.

There were approximately 4,000 fish released in Westwood Lake and  the Coliery Dams lakes while Green and Divers Lake are scheduled for restocking in the next few days.

The fall restocking program for Nanaimo area is planned to see 5,000 catchable rainbow trout released in the Coliery #1,2 and 3 areas. Diver Lake is to get 1500 catchable rainbow, Long Lake gets 2,000 catchable rainbow, Westwood to get 3500 catchable rainbow trout also.

On Vancouver Island fish stocking takes place four times per year with catchable rainbow releases in early March, mid May, mid Sept. and late October.
