Nearly 25% of Canadians Are Obese

Is Obesity The Next Health Crisis
Or Is It Already a Crisis?

According to a report published Sept. 23 nearly 25% of Canadians are obese (measured as a body mass index of 30 or more). While the US and Mexico captured first and second place, Canada is pretty much in a tie for third place with New Zealand, Australia and Britain.

Sooner or later our society will have to pay the price for being fat 'n sassy (maybe not so sassy) as health care spending on an obese person is 25% more than for someone of average weight.

Comment: (tongue firmly in cheek) Could be all those people who quit smoking for their health took up chocolate bars and donuts instead.
