Strongitharm Avenue Named In Honor
Ted and Margaret Strongitharm
A well known, long time Nanaimo family was honored by the city of Nanaimo with the renaming of Balmoral Road to Strongitharm Avenue.
Both Ted and Margaret Strongitharm were active members of their community, Ted was active in the Conservative party and in the public eye. Margaret was a Freeman of the City and Order of Canada recipient, and best known for being a driving force in the city's arts and culture community.
Margaret passed away in Oct. 2008 in her early nineties, being predeceased by Ted, her husband of 55 years.
