Local sports hero Larry McNabb will be honored this coming Wednesday with The Larry McNabb - Nanaimo's 20th Century Sports Hero award ceremony.
The event will be limited to about 1,000 guests and is being hosted in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
Organizers hope to be able to video conference the event to Larry's room at NRGH where he has been confined this past week. Apparently there has been a steady stream of supporters visiting Larry in the hospital offering support and friendship to this Nanaimo Sports hero.
Many in the community feel that Larry has perhaps done more for Nanaimo sports than any other single individual, playing hockey, coaching hockey, running a sports store and chairing Parks and Rec for over 20 years.
