Thrill the World Nanaimo

Prepare to be thrilled.
Saturday Oct. 23 rd
Centennial Building, Beban Park
Doors Open at 7:30 pm

Since the release of Michael Jackson’s innovative single Thriller and its groundbreaking video in the early 1980s, people all over the world have copied his moves in the hopes of recreating the magic he brought to the screen. Now it’s Nanaimo’s turn to participate with the introduction of Thrill the World.

Thrill the World was founded in Toronto in 2006 by dance choreographer Ines Markelle, who developed instructional teaching videos to make it possible for dancers and non-dancers alike to learn the dance in a very short time. More than 400 events in 42 countries are expected to draw up to 50,000 participants. Some Thrill the World events attract thousands of people while others only a handful.

All people of ages, sizes and dance experience are welcome to participate – zombie costumes encouraged!

Dance experience is not a requirement. Registration for the event includes a three-hour workshop prior to the event, taught by qualified instructors from The Clubhouse, Nanaimo’s newest dance and fitness studio, plus a two-hour-long rehearsal on the day of the celebration. Participants are also welcome to review the dance at home, at their own pace, through the official website at www.thrilltheworld.com.

The event will also feature the band Foreign Influence, providing participants, friends, family and spectators with entertainment while they get into their zombie best. After 9 p.m. the band will move to the Spice Lounge for the after party for adults over 19 years of age.

Tickets are by donation, proceeds to charity. This is a community spirit event about family, fun, Michael Jackson and Halloween. Tell all your friends.
