7,000 Free Passes Aboard BC Ferries

Rides For Free
Unlimited Travel Passes

The Daily Colonist today has published a story about what the Canadian Taxpayers Federation describes as "an outrageous amount of money going out the door for personal travel".

The story reports 7,000 passes have been given out this year and as of Oct. 19 there were 4,252 non-transferable passes assigned to employees for unlimited travel for a passenger and car.

The employees getting a 'free ride' include $1,000,000 a year boss David Hahn, galley helpers earning $20.45/hr and third engineers earning $33.27/hr.

There were another 3,215 passes for 24 hour one-way trips given to employee spouses and dependents.

Comment: I wonder if Mr. Hahn ever comes to Nanaimo without his car, so he can enjoy the Taxi Experience at Departure Bay?
