Nanaimo Waterfront Dec. 30 2010

Follows are a few examples of the reasons Nanaimo is such a special place to call home. While some parts of our great country are fighting with snow and white outs we get to enjoy picture perfect, post card scenery such as this. The air was crisp and clear, and almost no one was walking along the waterfront enjoying our natural bounty.

The snowcapped mountains on the mainland seemed to just pop out and looked close enough you could almost touch them.

At anchor on the other side of Protection Island there were no fewer than three large freighters at anchor waiting to get into Vancouver. I don't know whether any of the crew is able to tender ashore while they are tied up or are restricted to their vessel.
If the next days offer the same brilliant weather, why not bundle up and take a stroll along the waterfront, it is just as spectacular as it is in the summer and you nearly have the whole place to yourself.

In case you don't get an opportunity to get down to the inner harbour and enjoy all that it has to offer on a sunny early winter day, the following slideshow will show you what you are missing.
