Operation Lock It or Lose It

Free Locks To Reduce Auto Crime

Nanaimo RCMP are reported in the Times Colonist to be attempting to reduce auto crime by giving out steering wheel locks to owners of often stolen cars.

The program targets pre-2001 Honda Civic, Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager, all of which are at the top of the list of stolen motor vehicles in the province.

The steering wheel locks will be given out Thursday at the Mid Island Co-op on Bowen Road from 10:00 - noon. For the rest of the month owners of these vehicles can present proof of ownership at either the main detachment on Prideaux St. or the community policing office at 18 Victoria Cres.

Note: This only applies to owners of the three cars mentioned above.
