Missing For 9 Years
Nanaimo RCMP are asking the public for their continued assistance in solving the disappearance of Lisa Marie Young.
For the past 9 years Nanaimo RCMP have continued to revisit this file in the hope that one day her disappearance will be solved. A Crime Stoppers re-enactment of her last know movements was produced by Shaw TV in 2008. Officers assigned to the case have maintained contact with her family annually and just last year a walking vigil attended by many was held in downtown Nanaimo marking her disappearance.
Lisa Marie Young was last seen at approximately 3 AM on the evening of June 30th 2002 leaving a house party in the Cathers Lake area of Nanaimo. She left the party in the company of a male who was driving an older model red Jaguar. At 4:30 AM she phoned one of her friends. That was the last known contact anyone has had with her.
The vehicle and the male who she left the party with have been identified by police. The driver, like many others involved in this file, is simply a person of interest. ”Through the years we have received hundreds of tips on the car, on the male driver and her whereabouts on the evening of June 30th. Many of those tips were helpful in our investigation. Now we want to hear from those persons who, for whatever reason, have not contacted us. Someone knows what happened to her and the time to call is now ,” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP .

Its almost 10 years and we don't hear any news on this case. Someone must know something. I feel so sorry for Lisa's family having to live without knowing what has happened to their loved one. I do hope the police will raise the profile of this case this year.
ReplyDeleteWhy was this type of video not shown or done at the time when she went missing. I met those same men the night she disappeared and they seemed friendly enough but I had a bad feeling about them. Later when she disappeared I tried to call the police to indicate the information I had regarding the model of the car and the men. The reason this struck me as I vaguely knew Lisa and I walked past her walking from Club 241 to the direction towards the parking lot where I met those men.
ReplyDeleteThere was not any follow up or concern when I called. Nanaimo police are sitting on their asses on this. Where is the Jaguar? Why is there not anymore pressure on this "prominent businesswoman's" grandson? This infuriates me! If this was a blue-eyed, blonde female, trust this would be more of a priority, the Nanaimo police should be ashamed of their terrible police work.

As most of us fortunate to have family and ones with whom we can share this special time of year, settle in for the joys of Christmas and all we celebrate, tragic reality is that some people are experiencing intense pain now. Right in Nanaimo, BC, Canada and environs hearts need go out to Lisa Marie Young’s kin and all who still need closure.
ReplyDeleteIt’s nearing 15 years since Lisa’s disappearance and murder. There is some progress happening with the Australian investigative team that’s taken an interest in solving Lisa’s case. Christopher (William) Adair is the last person with whom Lisa’s friends saw her alive on June 30, 2012. After some contact, the producers of CaseFile are inviting Adair to “come on and have his say”. Here’s hoping those with a conscience will finally speak.
