New Nanaimo RCMP Superintendent Named


Superintendent Norm McPhail


Norm McPhail joined the RCMP in 1982 at Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was first posted to Richmond and has since worked in numerous municipalities including, Whistler, Comox Valley, Port Hardy, and Nelson.

In 2004, he returned to the Whistler RCMP Detachment as the Commander where he created a regional policing model to interface with the security resources for the 2010 Olympic Games. In 2006, he was promoted to Inspector and created the Sea to Sky Regional Police Services for a region that stretches from West Vancouver to Lillooet and comprises 7 local area governments, the Squamish Nation and the Upper/Lower Stl Atl Imx Bands.

In 2009, he became the RCMP Liaison Officer to the Province of BC, in Victoria, and is currently the Officer in Charge of Traffic Services for all of Vancouver Island.

The City of Nanaimo welcomes Superintendent Norm McPhail to the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment.
