City Hall Computers: have been rid of the 'qakbot' virus/worm that was able to bypass anti virus software and launch on the city network of computers. In all a total of 440 machines wound up being infected with the information stealing virus. The virus was first detected Wednesday at 12:30 am which led to the immediate disconnect from the internet so that data could not be compromised. It took until the next morning for the computer security company to write the 'fix' for the virus and then began the process of purging each an every computer on the network. This process took a long time as the virus was capable of 'hiding' and computers had to be check twice. The head of the IT Dept. is confident that no data was compromised and not personal resident information was accessed by the virus.

BC Hydro Office: on Madsen Road was broken into and several vehicles damaged and tools taken. Six Toughbook computers were also stolen with the total estimated value of all goods lost to be about $30,000.00
