Why Authorize $1.3 Million? Why Not LESS!
Recently Council passed a motion putting into motion the formation of a new corporation charged with the economic development of Nanaimo at a cost to taxpayers of nearly $1.5 million.
Question?? Why did no one on council consider restricting the cost of tax dollars going to this corporation to the cost of securing the CEO and his staff? Then leave it to him/her to establish an operating budget which would then be considered. Who knows, it might cost the taxpayer less. On the other hand, it may cost considerably MORE to do an effective job.
