VIU Strike Continues Talks Break Off

The government mediator adjourned the negotiations on Saturday afternoon after nearly five hours of talks between the striking Faculty Association and Vancouver Island University.
There are no further talks scheduled at this time as both sides appear to be at an impasse.

Comment: Perhaps the interest of the students would be better served if the Association finished this years studies and then went on strike over the summer, and refused to return without a settlement. Then the two main players can butt heads all summer long and if no settlement is forthcoming at least students can go elsewhere next year.

  1. Labour unrest and unstability means we shall have less International students in the forecoming years and that spells less money for the residents of the City.
