April Is Parkinson's Awareness Month

FREEZE!
(verb – with Parkinson’s disease – to stop suddenly and be unable to move)
April is Parkinson’s Month and April 11th is World Parkinson’s Day

Parkinson’s Month and World Parkinson’s Day are designated to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease and how it affects individuals, families and the wider spectrum of the community.  Greater awareness will cut down the stigma associated with the disease and enhance community understanding.

This is our opportunity to let the public, governments and health care professionals know about Parkinson’s disease and the challenges that individuals with Parkinson’s and their families face every day.

A world-wide appeal for one million people to sign the Global Parkinson’s Pledge has been launched to help build a global Parkinson’s movement; to make Parkinson’s a priority in health, social and economic issues around the world and to advance the cure.

By signing the pledge, you will be joining a global Parkinson’s movement for change.   It will be used by the global Parkinson’s community to highlight the urgency of better care for people with Parkinson’s and will be presented to the World Health Organization and other leading government bodies to help showcase the urgent need to invest in better care options for people living with chronic degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s.
