Things That Make You Smile
Seems a hydro lineman working on a pole on private property near Ladysmith had one of those experiences we would all like to forget.
Apparently while doing his work on the pole, which he had climbed using spurs, the resident black Labrador became either curious or protective of this fellow up the limbless tree.
Caution being the better part of valour saw the poor fellow 'treed' for an hour before he finally knew that Fido just wasn't going to leave, and he wasn't sure if it was Cujo waiting at the bottom of the pole or not.
So, after swallowing a great deal of pride the hapless fellow called the police and fire department who have experiences getting animals out of trees, but were quite curious about what this call would bring.
The sirens and flashing lights and all, caused the black dog to vacate the area and the tired, and somewhat red faced lineman safely descended from this perch. The dog later returned, and it turned out he was really quite friendly and everyone including the lineman gave him a scratch behind the ears.
Now, that's the kind of headlines we need more of!
