VIU Strike Ends Classes Resume April 12

Strike Over Classes Resume
This notice appears on the VIU website:

Regular classes, activities and events at all campuses will resume Tuesday April 12, 2011

Vancouver Island University and the Vancouver Island University Faculty Association have reached a settlement.

Regular classes at all campuses will resume Tuesday April 12, 2011.

We will complete the semester by April 29, 2011.

The summer session to run as scheduled.

Students who have been re-directed to alternative locations for instruction/classes are advised to return to their home campus/ classroom location on Tuesday; no classes are scheduled for Monday.

ESL classes will continue at the Waterfront Hotel for Monday April 11, 2011 only.

Due to the time it will take to re-mobilize some areas of the University and contact vendors, employees and students should expect reduced service levels in some areas, such as the Cafeteria and Bookstore.

Comment: I think that VIU and the VIUFA should both kick in $200 for each student, whose lives they have turned upside down, while both sides were looking for their big boy pants and give it to them as a parting bonus for a semester to remember.
