Post Office Strike Escalates
The Canada Post Corp has finally shut down all of it's operations as a result of the rotating strikes which are crippling the mail carrier.
So, if your cheque is in the mail, or you are waiting with eager anticipation for your HST referendum ballot you are simply out of luck.
Having watched many labour disputes over the years, the most recent at VIU, I really wonder why in this day and age BOTH parties can't more quickly come to the conclusion they ALWAYS do before they have to disrupt their own and others lives!
When they first arrived on the scene, I could never figure out how courier services would ever replace our beloved post office since they charged considerably more than the post office. Who would have ever suspected that private enterprise could have competed with the massive infrastructure advantage the post office had over them?
In this day and age of email and many courier choices, you have to sometimes wonder just how long before the post office as we know it disappears?
If Canada Post offered a fully competent service that reflects what we pay for it I might have some sympathy with their issues. But they don't, so I don't. Get back to work!
