Councilor Fred Pattje

Councilor Pattje
Uncertain About Water Treatment

At a recent city hall meeting, when council was debating the merits of asking the public if they wanted to borrow $22 million for a water treatment plant, the new councilor demonstrated his lack of understanding the issue.

He said he was under the impression, that if we did not build the new treatment plant, then VIHA would come in and build it, and then bill us. He was quickly corrected by city manager Mr. Kenning who said, that it meant VIHA would not sign off on the city's water permit, not that they would build one, and bill us for it.

From this exchange it was clear, that the popular councilor has not been doing his homework as regards this $63 million project.
