Human Skull Found On Beach

Two hikers made a gruesome find late Sunday afternoon with the discovery of a human skull on the beach at Roberts Memorial Park .

The hikers were walking along the beach at approximately 3 PM at the park located off Yellow Point Rd, when they found the skull lodged between rocks below the tide line. One of hikers astutely picked it up with a stick and moved it to a grassy area above the tide line. He then called the RCMP .

The RCMP Forensic Identification attended and examined the skull. Forensic specialists are not treating this find as suspicious or criminal in nature .” RCMP Forensic anthropology specialist’s have been consulted and can determine a number of things about the skull ,such as age, ethnicity and whether it is recent or historical. Their report is expected in the next week,” said Constable Gary O’Brien, media spokesperson for the Nanaimo RCMP.
