Miner's Heritage Picnic

Southend Community Picnic Popular Event

The Nanaimo Southend Community Accociation put on their annual Miner's Heritage Picnic which is a very popular event among yound and old, with the emphasis on young. It looked liked all the young people in Nanaimo were at the Park on Saturday while I was there.

The Southend Association is the poster child for what community involvement is supposed to look like. The rest of Nanaimo could take a page from their book and their example of what community action looks like, when you don't just talk about what could be, but get actively involved..

If you missed this years event, you missed an event packed day with something to please everyone, and something to keep the kids actively involved for hours on end. Once again, kudos to this community leader.

  1. This was my first time at this event. Thank-you, it was a wonderful experience. A free event? plus rides for the children? never heard of nowadays. Thanx Nanaiamo, I am glad I moved to this city and am excited for future events here. The people seen down to earth, awesome.
