Not Good News For Nanaimo

The above photo accompanies a news story in today's Comox Valley Record announcing the opening of Costco's largest warehouse on Vancouver Island.

In the story several Costco customers are quoted as saying they will save lots on gas and they will shop more often now that they do not have to drive to Nanaimo.

You might wonder if the brain trust at city hall factors in such changes in the market as they keep planning to continue raising taxes with no end in sight. This new store in the Comox Valley will result in thousands of up-islanders no longer coming into the north end of Nanaimo, which has to have a serious spin-off effect to Woodgrove Mall and other north end merchants.
