Heading Home After The Party
Canada Day In Nanaimo

A huge crowd filled Maffeo Sutton Park on Canada Day as thousands of Nanaimo residents joined the party, which thankfully saw none of our liquid sunshine even though the real sunshine was also in short supply.

The cooler than usual temperatures didn't cool the spirit of the crowd as people, young and old from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds came together to celebrate our appreciation for this great country we live in.

There was face painting, magic acts, stilt walkers, kayaking, cake eating, and lots and lots of great food from the different vendors at the park. Something I think would be a welcome addition to Maffeo Sutton Park on a year round basis, not that I don't like the tube steaks from the existing vendor, but variety I am sure would be appreciated, and might even be a reason to visit the park all on it's own. A choice of foods I mean.

So, Happy Birthday Canada, and kudos to Nanaimo for a great Birthday Party!
