Bastion Restoration Honoured

Heritage BC Gives Bastion Restoration the
"2011 Heritage Conservation Outstanding Achievement Award"

After 158 years and in spite of new, much taller buildings, the iconic Bastion is still a most dominant feature on the Nanaimo downtown, harbour area. Dwarfed by the modern day hotel, the Coast Bastion which towers over it, it remains a focal point to those entering the inner harbour.

Heritage BC honoured The City of Nanaimo, Macdonald and Lawrence Timber Framing Ltd., Read Jones Christoffersen Consulting Engineers, Knappett Projects Inc., Mr. Sidney Sharman and the Hudon's Bay Company for the important part they played in this important restoration.
