Nanaimo Honored
"Great Places in Canada" & "Great Streets"
Confirming what we Nanaimoites already know, Mr. Donovan Toews, Vice-President of the Canadian Institute of Planners presented Nanaimo City representatives with a plaque in recognition of Commercial Street being awarded top honors in the "Great Streets" category of the Canadian Institute of Planners "Great Places In Canada" program for 2011.

Mr. Chris Sholberg who is the community and heritage planner for Nanaimo received a Certificate of Appreciation. Mr. Sholberg was instrumental in submitting the entry for the city of Nanaimo which ultimately resulted in this great honor.

Receiving the plague for the city were long time city councilor Loyd Sherry who has been on the Heritage committee since before time began, and city Mayor John Ruttan.
