World Town Planning Day Event

Join Nanaimo City Planning Department
Celebrate The Greatest Street in Canada
November 8th is World Town Planning Day!  Please join the City of Nanaimo planning department staff from 11:30am to 2:00pm to celebrate the greatest street in Canada - Commercial Street – and to celebrate World Town Planning Day in the Nanaimo Museum Lobby.  Here is your opportunity to find out more about the planning profession and speak with the city’s planners.
In the 2011 first annual Great Places in Canada contest hosted by the Canadian Institute of Planners, Commercial Street was named the greatest street in Canada and was recognized for its historic character and its ability to rejuvenate itself in the face of suburban competition.  To celebrate Commercial Street city staff will be providing FREE heritage tours at 12:00pm, 12:30pm and 1:00pm.

The World Town Planning Day event will also feature FREE Nanaimo bars and coffee, a large map of Commercial Street where you can cast your vote for your favourite building, heritage photos, and a children’s colouring book!  Or come and learn how to find out more information about planning and zoning in Nanaimo.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the planning profession, interact with planning staff, or just eat a free Nanaimo Bar and explore Canada’s greatest street.
