Hard Landing Closes Duke Point FerryTerminal
The Coastal Inspiration had a hard landing at the Duke Point terminal this afternoon about 3:00 pm which has damaged the vehicle loading ramp. This meant the ferry had to be re-routed to Departure Bay to off load the vehicles.
This will mean the Duke Point terminal will be closed until further notice pending repair of the damage to the ramp. Obviously this will result in some pressure on the ferry corporation getting people on and off of Vancouver Island if all traffic has to go through Departure Bay.
There is no estimate of how long the Duke Point Terminal will be out of service, but to check for current conditions at Duke Point or Departure Bay use this Nanaimo Info LINK.
