Yes, It Is Snowing In Nanaimo
While other parts of Canada may laugh at the fact a snowfall is actually a news event in Nanaimo, those of use living in the Banana Belt of Canada are usually ill-prepared to deal with the white stuff.
It did start snowing this morning sometime around 5:00 AM and as of 7:00 AM it is still falling but if the weatherman has his/her guess right it shouldn't amount to all that much.
Could Be Very Icy
Driving in the light, powdery snow that is falling now just means taking a bit more time and keeping a light foot on the gas pedal, to get going without starting to spin. However, the challenge could come as even a small accumulation gets packed down under traffic, and the local plow does not get back down to bare pavement. The resulting packed snow will be the same as driving on ice, and no matter how good your tires are, they are no match for ice.
Warming And Returning To Rain By Friday
It looks like we will have to put up with one or two days of real winter-type weather before things warm again and we are treated to the more customary showers which of course "we don't have to shovel".
