Hydro Takes Another Bite

Hydro Rates To Jump 7% In April

B.C. Utilities Commission have approved a 7.07% increase in hydro rates effective April 2012. This is well above the 3.9% increase the Liberal government was recommending and still below the 9.73% increase hydro was looking for.

In addition to the increase this April there will be 3.9% increases in each of the next 2 years bringing the total 3 year increase 15%.

When you add this 'sustainable' increase to the 16% 'sustainable' increase the city has planned for the next five years, you have to wonder if when compounded all these 'sustainable' increases don't turn into that straw that broke the camel's back.

At the very least you would think it would illicit some hissing from the old goose, but that bird seems to have completely given up already.
