Lifesaving Showcase Feb. 18, 2012

Learn How To Rescue Yourself and Others

Scuba divers and inflatable rafts will take over the Nanaimo Aquatic Center from 1pm to 4pm, Saturday, February 18th, 2012. People are invited to come and try out a variety of exciting lifesaving activities from scuba diving to testing out inflatable evacuation rafts during the City of Nanaimo’s Third Annual Lifesaving Showcase. While the focus of the event is to educate the public about lifesaving skills, the event will provide the public with an abundance of activities that they maybe would not be able to do normally.

The Lifesaving Showcase will have six major features:
  • Lifeguard and lifesaving training demonstrations and competitions provided by the Nanaimo JLC and NLS club (1pm-2pm)
  • Free snorkelling and scuba diving provided by Sink or Swim Scuba (1pm-4pm).
  • Giant inflatable evacuation rafts and equipment provided by Safer Oceans Systems (1pm-4pm).
  • First-Aid training and workshops for people to learn new lifesaving skills provided by aquatic staff (1pm-4pm).
  • Lifesaving Sport competitions provided by aquatic staff (3pm-4pm).
  • Sink or Swim challenges provided by aquatic staff (2pm-3pm).

These events will give people a chance to learn how to rescue themselves and others, as well as how to prepare ahead. All swimming admissions during the Lifesaving Showcase are only $3.00.
