Segway Victoria is trying to drum up support to bring their business to Nanaimo.
They hope to get the city's approval to provide guided tours of some of Nanaimo's parks and perhaps along the waterfront. What they are proposing is guided tours, with up to eight people riding the two wheeled electric vehicles, being led through some of Nanaimo's parks and trails.
Apparently getting approval for these two wheeled wonders presents all sorts of challenges which is why they don't seem to have ever caught on in this part of the world.

Silent, motorized vehicles being driven by inexperienced riders just sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the liability to the city, should one of these people loose control and hit a 'happy wanderer' just out enjoying the peace and solitude of the park.
They might be OK in wide open spaces like Maffeo Sutton's parking lot, but on a wooded trail???
