$5,400,000.00 Needed For Trestle Repair

IFC Need To Fund Another $5,400,000.00

It is reported in the Times Colonist that the results of a recent engineering study would indicate another $5.4 Million will be required to bring the E&N rail line bridges and trestles up to a standard to support passenger service.

The IFC recently got the green light from Ottawa for federal funding, which did come with some conditions. One of those conditions was that the passenger service could be restored without any further funding from the federal government.

Where the IFC will now be looking for this additional funding which needs to be in place by this fall when repair works is hoped to get underway to meet the objective of having the service up and running again by next spring, is not clear at this point.
