PENNIES AND MORE FOR BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

Woodgrove Centre’s most recognizable landmark, the water clock fountain continues to give back to the community. A recent cheque presentation of coins collected totaled $1,782.25. Craig MacDonald, Director of Marketing & Fund Development with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Vancouver Island, pours a bucket of coins into Island Savings coin counter machine, another supporter of their organization. He shared, "Woodgrove's commitment to kids is community leadership at its best. After 40 years of serving kids, it all happens because organizations like Woodgrove Centre invest themselves locally; truly a relationship that makes a daily difference in the lives of some of Nanaimo's most vulnerable members."

Nola Dunn, Woodgrove Centre’s Marketing Director commented, “Our customers should be applauded for continuing to support worthy children’s charities in our community. This has been a tradition since the centre opened 31 years ago.” She added, “We anticipate with the Royal Canadian Mint announcing that they will no longer distribute pennies as of fall 2012 customers may be considering donating their pennies to charity. That said, we would love for them to make a wish and toss their coins into the water clock fountain in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters this year.”
