Public Meeting To Consider Colliery Dams Options

Public Meeting Re: Colliery Dams
John Barsby School Nov. 20th - 7:00 pm

Residents of Nanaimo who think that the park at the Colliery Dam is worth saving are having a meeting at John Barsby School to insist that the city remain open to options regarding this issue.

The meeting is scheduled for Nov. 20th at 7:00 pm at John Barsby High School and anyone interested in having the city consider other options are urged to attend and make their opinions known. There is a concern about how the city proceeded with this closed door decision and how the stakeholders (Nanaimo citizens) had absolutely no say in the final decision.

  1. It was a closed door decision due to such high risk and sensitivity for those who would be directly impacted by seismic activity.

  2. An emergency high risk decision 10 years in the making. This was the only way to get this through w/o public consultation.
