Hamperville Donations Off 33% This Year

HAMPERVILLE NANAIMO
2560 Bowen Road, Nanaimo

The donations at Hamperville this year are off about one third when compared to giving at the same time last year. Demand however, is still well over 2.000 families in need of a hamper this season.

Hamperville is located this year in the old Madill building which is just off Bowen Road, near all the car dealers. They will be taking registrations for this year's hampers up until Dec. 14th. After that time, they have to decide how much food can go into each hamper for the people registered by that date. Emergency registrants after that date won't be turned away, but can't be guaranteed of receiving a hamper.

6,000 Kilos or 13,000 Cans Less Than Last Year

To date donations are off by 33% which is the equivalent of 6,000 kilograms of food, put another way that is the same as 13,000 cans of soup or vegetables, which is going to leave a huge hole in the hampers this year.

What Hamperville Really Needs

The hampers prepared by Hamperville are not just for the traditional Christmas dinner, but they are intended to provide sufficient food to last for ten days.

Suggested Items Needed To Fill The Hampers

CANNED GOODS of all kinds, soups, tuna, vegetables, beans, fruit etc.
MACARONI & CHEESE that good old Canadian staple
PEANUT BUTTER a great form of providing protein, and it tastes good
