Nanaimo Snowfall Dec. 17

Roads Are Bare & Wet

Last night at 7:30pm it looked like we were in for a serious snowfall, with trees hanging heavy under wet snow. The weather forecaster was calling for 5cm - 10cm of snow and this morning that warning is still on the weather network site.

This morning however, in true Nanaimo fashion, a great deal of the snow which has fallen, has now melted and it seems the city works crews were out overnight as every road I travelled was just bare and wet as they had obviously plowed.

The forecast is still calling for snow, but it will have to get colder for that to happen, so if you have been putting off putting on your snow tires, today would be a good day to take care of that. Of course you could also play the not so advisable game of "Will I Really Need Snow Tires Roulette?"

Drivers who prefer the later will be seen slipping and sliding all over the place and causing havoc the next time it really does snow.

Check your wiper blades and anti freeze, and make sure your window washer fluid also has anti-freeze instead of straight water.

HO HO HO ............. "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" .............. Yes, Virginia..............
