Downtown Nanaimo Turns Down Heat

Environmental & Charitable Initiative

Downtown merchants will be participating in their first ever 'Turn Down The Heat' campaign in conjunction with other communities across the province. The program is in partnership with FortisBC and Business Improvement Areas of British Columbia.

Participating businesses will be collecting sweaters beginning January 26 and will be reducing their energy consumption by lowering the thermostat for the week of Feb. 2 - 9.

Sweaters collected during the program will be donated to the Nanaimo Women's Resource Centre and the Nanaimo Men's Resource Centre. Sweaters can be dropped off at any participating downtown merchant, and the goal is to collect at least 12 sweaters at each participating business.

For a complete list of participating businesses visit the DNBIA website HERE.
