Charges Laid After Seizure of Stolen Goods
Charges have been laid against the four adults arrested on Monday January 14th. During their arrest and search of their home over $22,000 dollars of stolen clothing was seized.
Starla Melody SEAWARD, age 40, Elizabeth Anne Marie JOE, age 19, Jeremy Frank SAWYER, age 20 and Anderson TOMMY, age 41 have all been charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5000. SEAWARD and TOMMY were also charged with Careless Storage of Firearms after two rifles with ammunition stored next to them were found in an unlocked safe.
The seized items were put on display for local media to view at the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment.
The seized items filled an entire room and took investigators over a day just to itemize. The magnitude and scale of this theft ring is one that investigators have never seen before and has probably been going on for several years,said Constable Gary O’Brien of the Nanaimo RCMP.
Loss Prevention Officers from stores throughout Nanaimo will be viewing the items and will assist investigators with determining the origin of items that have not been catalogued yet.
