BC Conservatives Nominate Nanaimo Candidate

BC Conservatives set Nanaimo Nomination

The BC Conservatives will be nominating their candidate for the upcoming Provincial election Saturday March 23, 2:00pm at the Beban Park Social Centre. After an extensive candidate search, and a thorough vetting by the Party’s Candidate Review Committee, a 23 year old young professional and Nanaimo resident, Bryce Crigger, has been approved for the nomination.

Crigger says he’s running for more accountability from government regarding taxation, education and healthcare. “I see a lot of waste in government and a complete lack of transparency in process. This has to change,” he said.

Nanaimo Constituency Association President Nick Rvachew says “All Nanaimo area residents and media are invited to attend the nomination meeting; however only Party members in our local constituency association will be able to vote to affirm the candidate. It will be a great opportunity to get to know our local candidate, ask questions and learn more about the BC Conservative Party.”

  1. It has been my experience locally, that the only reason a Party needs members is to, as is said above, “vote to affirm the candidate” ... that is, the candidate, who has already been appointed by those in the “back room”. The democratic deficit actually begins right at the local constituency level. Seems that “nomination races” are becoming a thing of the past – no matter the political stripe.

The appointee says that he is “running for more accountability from government ...... and he refers to changing “a complete lack of transparency in process.” Puuleeze!!

And at the Federal level, the Liberal Party of Canada will very soon be “crowning” its new leader. Seems that the process of selecting any “Leader” has come down to a contest to see how many twitter “followers” and facebook “likes”, one can get. One really does have to pity our grandchildren.

As for the Municipal level of government, it is now quite clear to me that the main purpose of an elected council is to approve the spending -- with the objective of granting taxpayers’ funds to as many of their friends as possible --- and to rack up consultants’ reports, ad nauseum -- pretty clear that the “governing” is now done by the “unelected", again -- behind the scenes.
