Grandson Scam Claims Nanaimo Victim

Man Scammed By
'Grandson Scam'

An 86 year old Nanaimo man was conned out of $2,000 he believed he was sending to his grandson in need.

The scammer provided the man with an accurate description of the man's grandson and asked the money be sent by courier. The man realized he had been conned when he spoke with this grandson the next day.

If you receive such a call, do not allow yourself to be pressured into sending money until you do a bit of investigating. Tell the caller you want to call the grandson's parents first and also that you wish to call the police first also.
