It's that time of year again, when the May Queen's heritage tea gives Nanaimo residents a chance to meet the incoming May Queen and her Princesses and Page boy and hear about all the exciting activities planned for this year.

This year's royal party include Nanaimo May Queen elect Meg Montgomery, Princesses Mairi Rathy and Makaela Robinson and Page boy Alex Murrells. The official crowning will take place this year on May 17, 2013.

Tickets for the tea are available at the Nanaimo Museum for only $8.00 where you can also see the original May Queen crown on display. The first recorded account of the Queen's Birthday Celebration in Nanaimo dates back to 1863. In those days people took a half day off for May Day and a full day for May 24th.
