City now
offers electronic property tax notices
Property owners can now receive their tax notice electronically
through a new program called ‘MyBills’. 2013 marks the first year that the
entire property tax notice process – from notice to payment – can be done
without the use of paper.
A property tax
notice can now be received as soon as it is prepared, rather than waiting for a
paper copy to arrive in the mail. Using a MyCity account, property owners can
view their property tax notices posted online in PDF format. Notices are also
archived online enabling residents to see their notice history from previous
years or download the files to their own computer, twenty-four hours a day,
seven days a week.
The City of
Nanaimo encourages taxpayers to sign up to receive their property taxes
electronically for 2013. To sign up for this electronic service, property owners
need to register with MyCity by visiting http://mycity.nanaimo.ca. Once they
have created a MyCity account and successfully activated it, the property owners
must change their delivery method to email by going to the ‘MyBills’ tab or
follow the detailed instructions at http://www.nanaimo.ca/goto/mycity. The
deadline to sign up for the 2013 property tax year is end of day May 13th.
