Direct Action To Save Colliery Park Lakes

Veterans of Clayoquot Take Up The Fight

This summer could get very interesting in Nanaimo, if direct action becomes necessary to prevent the destruction of the lakes in Colliery Dam Park.

Dave Cutts of Veterans of Clayoquot '93 finds it rather ironic that on the 20th anniversary of the Clayoquot struggle, he will likely be engaged in a battle to save the lakes in Colliery Dam Park.

Dave and his group will be holding an information session this Sunday, May 19th 11:00 am at the lower dam in Colliery Dam Park to discuss options for the use of Civil Disobedience to prevent any destruction of the dams this coming summer.

The groups first completed tree platform will be on view at that time and all are invited to attend this meeting.

The group feels that if the dams are ripped out, then new ones would never be built and feel that direct action is a way to stop this travesty.
